Manufacturing

Our plantations

As part of Gloveman Supplies Ltd., Lalan Plantations Ltd. has a long-term sub-lease until 2045 to manage plantations in 4 regions - Mahaoya, Pitiyakanda, Sapumalkanda and Udabage.

With 13 estates, spanning across 17,000 acres; we also own and operate the largest nursery in Sri Lanka, which produces over 500,000 rubber plants each year. Our strict procedures govern the sourcing of latex from our own plantations; glove manufacture to the correct safety standards; and our UK based supply operation Gloveman Supplies Ltd.

The whole process guarantees a top-quality latex glove for carers, nurses and care homes.

We acknowledge our Corporate Social Responsibility, conducting our business in a transparent and sustainable manner. By caring for the local community and Sri Lankan nature, we work towards enhancing our workers’ quality of life and the environment they live in.

As a group, we provide regular training and give each employee periodical medical checks, along with hospital and aftercare facilities. We also provide them with housing, schools and welfare shops across the estates.

Our factories

Our seven factories employ high-quality staff from various disciplines who produce a wide range of products including household, industrial and chemical resistance gloves, seamless gloves and medical grade gloves.

All our factories are ISO, BRC, BSCI & Sedex certified and produce and export over 1 billion gloves annually. All chemicals used in production conform to REACH standards and the gloves meet FDA, CE, EN and ASTM standards.

Our independent central laboratory serves as an overall quality control body for each of our production facilities. Before any material is taken into the manufacturing process, it is tested by the Central Laboratory for approval.

Once approved the gloves are released to the final pre-packing quality checks, at which stage a sample is tested for thickness faults, tensile strength, holes and weak points.

Sustainable rubber programs

Environmentally conscious, each of our processes considers the possible impact on the ecosystem. In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we take a considered manufacturing approach:
  • Reducing the overall impact on the environment and surrounding community.
  • Driven by experts, we endeavour to restore the balance of affected and endangered environments.
  • We are always looking to introduce sustainable practices wherever possible to revitalise the biosphere and those that depend on our business.
